Movie Night: Ponyo
Good news! There are enough functioning in-pool lights to have Movie Night tonight! Bring your floaties and come watch “Ponyo”, which will start at dusk (8ish). Be sure to give a shout out to birthday boy, Colm, our pool manager, when you come.
Log On to Website
Time to log on! If you haven’t already, log on to the Venetian Pools website: http://venetianpools.org using the username and temporary password sent to you by e-mail. Each membership has one username and password, as well as one e-mail associated with it. This is different from the e-mail distribution list, which allows as many e-mail addresses per membership as desired.
The Members Only tab will appear on the horizontal menu of the website after you log in. Members Only features are being added throughout the summer. You can currently view the on-line Venetian Pools directory (Members List), look at the draft Master Plan, and download the Nomination Form. On-line voting for our annual election will be an option this year. Once you have logged in, you can also change your password, update your profile, and allow your contact information to be viewed on the Member List.
Reply if you would like your password resent, noting to which e-mail address you would like it resent. We encourage everyone to make use of this new website feature.
A Few Good Members
It’s that time of year again—we are looking for a few good members to run for the VPCA Board of Directors. There are four open positions as Flip Hager (President), Jim Heffner (Property and Grounds), Matt Moore (Property and Grounds), and Angie Witz (Treasurer) complete their terms. Click here for the form or download it from the Members Matters section under the Members Only tab (you have to be logged in). Leave the completed form at the front desk, e-mail it to Sophia Brothers Peterman, email@example.com or send it via snail mail to Sophia. Be sure that every person nominated has agreed to run. People with financial and property and grounds experience are especially needed. The deadline for submitting nominations is Friday, August 3. Voting will be from Thursday, August 16, through Labor Day, Monday, September 3. The new Board members will officially take office during the General Meeting, Monday, September 10.
Check Out the Draft Master Plan
Be sure to check out the draft master plan for Venetian Pools. It is posted on the pool bulletin board and under the Members Only tab of http://venetianpools.org (you have to log on the website to see it). Then, let us know what you think—reply or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org This is a fluid document—your ideas are important to help guide Venetian Pools Community Association in the coming years.
One More Noon Pool Opening
The third time is a charm…we hope. This is a heads up that sometime early next week the pool will open at noon to allow the last in-pool lights to be installed. The pool area will also be closed until noon, since there will be electrical cords and installation machinery on the pool deck. We will let you know as soon as we have a firm date.
Lost & Found
Seriously, the Lost & Found pile has gotten too big. Please claim your missing items now. All unclaimed items will be donated to charity on Wednesday, August 1. The Lost & Found items are located on the racks at the entrance to the women’s locker room.
Some of that fierce lightning from Monday night’s storm zapped the front desk computer system. Please be patient during the few days that it will take to get a replacement up and running.
Small Bills, Please
Please bring your small bills and change to the pool for the concession stand and guest passes. For security’s sake, the Concession Stand and Front Desk keep a limited amount of cash on hand to make change.
Deep End Saturday Evenings
A reminder that every Saturday at 4 PM the deep end is available for open swimming the rest of the evening. To allow for this, the lap lanes will be changed to the short configuration. The deep end will still need to be clear whenever the diving board is in use.
Feeling hungry? A Take Out Menu book with menus and coupons is at the front desk. Feel free to add other menus and coupons for poolside delivery—there are extra plastic sleeves in the book.
New on the website—the Poolside Dining tab. Click on Take Out Menus for phone numbers and links to menus for choosing from local restaurants. Click on Favorite Recipes to see what’s cooking at Venetian. Hit reply to submit your favorite recipes or take out restaurants.
The Greening of Venetian
